Jon Rotolo, Co-Founder
Jon Rotolo has founded multiple asset management companies over the past two decades which have cumulatively managed over $8 billion of capital. As a manager he has overseen teams which have made nearly seventy portfolio company investments and executed hundreds of follow on acquisitions. As an investor he has held board seats across multiple industries including telecom, media, technology, renewable resources, infrastructure and healthcare. Currently Jon serves on the Board of Concord, the Board of Managers of the Jane Coffin Childs Memorial Fund for Medical Research, and is an officer of LSJ Charitable Corporation. Mr. Rotolo is a graduate of Hamilton College, Boston University’s Questrom School of Business and Dartmouth’s Tuck School of Business. When he’s not working or volunteering, Jon enjoys spending time outdoors with his family and his canine shadow, Daisy.
Alex Thomson, Co-Founder
Alex Thomson has been involved in startups since 1995 when he was one of the first employees at an emerging markets investment bank. Since then Alex has started a hedge fund and founded two asset management companies that have managed several billion dollars of investment capital. Alex has held board seats across various industries and today is the vice-chairman of Concord, the world’s leading independent music company. As a dual national holding US and UK nationalities Alex graduated from the UK’s Durham University and since then has lived in Europe, South East Asia and today happily resides in Connecticut with his family.
James Elkins, Managing Director
Jim Elkins has worked in various investment and banking roles for over 20 years. Jim holds a BA in Finance from Michigan State University and an MBA from Central Michigan University. When out of the office, he enjoys distance running, fishing, and spending time with his family.
Julie Niedzwiecki, Managing Director
Julie Niedzwiecki has been in the industry for the past 18+ years. Her focus has ranged from investment grade fixed income to funding equity for company startups. She’s served on company boards in a wide range of sectors including digital infrastructure, media, transportation and financial services. Julie holds a B.S. in Business Management from the University of Rhode Island and an M.B.A. from the Isenberg School of Management at the University of Massachusetts. While Julie resides in Connecticut, she enjoys the convenience of trips into NYC to catch Broadway shows. In her free time, you’ll find her engaged in outdoor activities including paddle boarding and hiking or spending time with her pair of house rabbits.
Ethan Tyminski, Principal & Chief Financial Officer
Ethan Tyminski has worked in finance and operating roles in the asset management industry since 2013. Prior to that he worked in public accounting and the finance department at General Electric. Ethan has years of experience working with portfolio company management teams on financial reporting, planning and operations and enjoys working in entrepreneurial environments. Ethan is a graduate of the University of Connecticut from which he holds a Bachelors degree and a Masters Degree in Accounting. He is a CPA registered in Connecticut. Ethan sits on the board and the finance committee for the Amistad charter school in New Haven, CT. Ethan resides in Connecticut and enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife and three children.
Greg Smith, Principal & General Counsel
Greg Smith has held a variety of positions in the investment industry over the past decade-plus in firms ranging from a small family office to large, multi-national companies. During this time, he has been involved in a number of transactions across multiple industries. Greg graduated from the University of Connecticut and the University of Connecticut School of Law. When out of the office, Greg and his family reside in Massachusetts where he can often be found chasing after his young son and daughter.
Julian McIntyre, Vice President
Julian McIntyre has worked in the investment industry since graduating from Dartmouth College in 2017. Julian started out at Barings as an Analyst in the Private Equity & Real Assets group, and then moved to Los Angeles to work as an Associate at Shamrock Capital Advisors, before returning to the east coast. An Atlanta native, Julian enjoys fishing trips, going to concerts and watching his hometown Bulldogs, Falcons and Braves.
Brianna Rice, Fund Controller
Brianna Rice has worked in accounting with a focus in the financial industry since 2015, starting her career in public accounting at Deloitte. Brianna graduated from Eastern Connecticut State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and is a CPA registered in Connecticut. When she is not working, she can be found at the barn spending time with her horse, PJ.
Alejandro Sarmiento, Analyst
Alejandro “Ale” Sarmiento has worked in the investment industry since graduating from NYU’s Stern School of Business in 2022. Ale resides in Manhattan, and when he’s not working, enjoys long-distance swimming, playing guitar, and visiting art galleries and museums.
Cristina Martins, Executive Assistant & Office Manager
Cristina Martins is responsible for scheduling, office management, event planning and community outreach. Cristina first started working with Jon Rotolo and Alex Thomson in 2006. She graduated with a BA in Communications from the University of Connecticut and enjoys hiking and exploring southern Connecticut and spending time with her family.
Lindsey Boucher, Controller & Graphic Designer
Lindsey Boucher has been working with Jon Rotolo and Alex Thomson since 2004, assuming various roles as each company was formed and launched including support staff, graphic design, editing and bookkeeping. Lindsey holds a BA in Fine Art from Gordon College in Wenham, MA with a concentration in oil painting, she now lives in CT with her husband and 2 kids.
